Native of Laval, daughter of collecting parents, Ann Duckett showed obvious artistic skills from a young age.
From the year 2000 onwards, she tackled the charcoal design and sketch in the «fine-arts» way. She discovered pastel in 2006 and registered as a member of the Eastern Canada Pastel Society in 2007 (PSEC). She quickly became event leader of the executive committee of this prestigious association (in 2008) and signatory member in 2011.
From 2007 onwards, various workshops of master pastellists such as Horace Champagne, William Hosner and Sally Strand, as well as the influence of Emily Carr, Group of Seven, Georgia O’Keeffe and Tex Lecor on a vision of nature and Ann Rochefort’s artistic support as a mentor, contributed to her journey.
Starting in 2015, she worked on obtaining a certificate in plastic arts at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. The engraving courses given by Mylène Gervais have undoubtedly influenced her perception of nature which becomes more weighted, reflected, interiorized.
In 2018, a bridge stands between the different stages of its journey over the past 20 years. The vision of nature is precise in its sublime, the pastel and the print are imposed as tools and the work of the artist continues.
